Warner Bros just announced release dates for a number of their upcoming movies. According to Deadline, Andy Muschietti’s The Flash movie comes out on July 1, 2022. Lana Wachowski’s Matrix 4 also has a release date now – May 21, 2021. On top of that, Warner Bros is moving up its new Mortal Kombat movie from its original slot in March 2021 to January 15, 2021. The third installment in The Conjuring horror universe now has a title and an official release date. Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It comes out on September 11, 2020.

Matrix 4 has taken the release date before reserved for Taika Waititi’s highly anticipated adaptation of the cult manga Akira. However, in this announcement, Warner Bros doesn’t even mention Akira anymore. Does this mean the studio gave up on this project? Interestingly, Matrix 4 will open on the same week as another movie starring Keanu Reeves – John Wick 4.

As for The Flash, this is the second DC movie scheduled for a 2022 release. The other one is James Wan’s Aquaman 2 which should come out on December 16, 2022. Before that, Warner Bros will release Birds of Prey (February 7, 2020), Wonder Woman 1984 (June 5, 2020), The Batman (June 5, 2021), The Suicide Squad (August 6, 2021) and Black Adam (December 22, 2021).
