The teaser trailer for Netflix’s Witcher series starring Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Justice League) is making its way around the web.
Synopsis via Netflix:
The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.
The Witcher series is based off of the popular video games and novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski.
Let’s see what they cooked up for us…Toruk's Take
Cavill is still a bit too much of a pretty boy in my opinion but aside from that he looks pretty good. I suppose the ladies won’t mind having some eye-candy to look at. Just hope they didn’t forget about the male audience.
Was it just me or did the guy speaking in the beginning have mumble mouth? I could barely understand a thing he was saying. Seeing lots of brown people. This was expected but my guess is that given the nature of the source material there probably weren’t a lot of brown folk in it…or at least not very many so this is likely a political decision. How many more ‘political decisions’ are we going to be presented with I wonder? Will they negatively affect the quality of the story? It also looks like they might be making some sort of allegory regarding the settlers and the not-really-native Americans (Humans and Elves). Is this a new take as well?
Ugh…I’m not watching this series until I finish at least one of those fricken novels, I hate being in the dark. Especially if I suspect subversion or propaganda afoot.
Moving on…not enough action in this trailer to gauge the quality of it. There was a lot of jump-cuts, makes wonder if they are trying to hide something or just look dynamic. My conclusion, this is a carefully edited trailer. More-so than most trailers, you can just tell. The question is…why; to not show too much good or to prevent people from realizing there is a whole bunch of bad.
