The new horror Suspiria directed by Luca Guadagnino Call Me by Your Name (2017) and written by David Kayganich is a reboot/remake of Dario Argento’s 1997 (classic?) of the same name.  This one will be streamed on and released by Amazon Studios.

Here the plot:

“A young American dancer travels to Europe to perfect her dancing in a renowned dance academy. She quickly comes to unravel the academy’s sinister history when a series of grisly murders ensue.”

I haven’t seen Argento’s film. I’m a little afraid to, I saw that Dracula 3D (2012) flick he made and it was so bad I had to do a double take. Maybe I’ll take the plunge…it was made in 1977, a lot can change with a director in that amount of time.

Well, let’s see what this one looks like…

Hmn. Everyone looks so serious! I thought the supernatural elements were executed very creepily…which is good. I wonder if Guadagnino is aping Argento’s style from the original? Damn…I guess I’m going to have to watch it after all.

Suspiria starring Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Lutz Ebersdof, Jessica Harper, Chloë Grace Moretz, Sylvie Testud, Ingrid Caven, Angela Winkler and Malgosia Bela screams on Amazon Prime November 2, 2018.
