Rosario Dawson has been cast in the second season of the Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian. SlashFilm exclusively reports Dawson will portray Ahsoka Tano, a fan-favorite character from cartoon shows Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. Ahsoka is Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi apprentice who eventually finds herself fighting opposite her former mentor as he’s drawn to the Dark Side. This would be the first appearance of this character in a live-action series. Dawson has a long history of appearing in geek-friendly movies and TV shows. She was cast in movies like Death Proof, Men in Black II, Sin City, and Zombieland: Double Tap, as well as in the Netflix TV shows Daredevil and Luke Cage.
Dawson isn’t the lone newcomer in the show’s cast. GeekTyrant says Michael Biehn will portray a veteran bounty hunter in The Mandalorian’s second season. Biehn received his big break in James Cameron’s The Terminator in 1984. Since then, he appeared in movies like Aliens, Planet Terror, The Abyss, The Rock and Tombstone.
It’s also worth mentioning that director Robert Rodriguez (Alita: Battle Angel, From Dusk till Dawn, Sin City) will reportedly direct at least one episode of the show’s second season. However, this story still isn’t one hundred percent confirmed, so take it with a grain of salt.
