And you thought five Transformers movies and one prequel were enough?! HAH! SlashFilm reports Paramount is producing yet another Transformers movie. Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) will direct, with a script by Marco Ramirez, the showrunner of the Marvel limited series The Defenders. The film in question will be set apart from the universe established by Michael Bay’s Transformers movies.

But this isn’t the only such project in development. According to the article, Steven Caple, Jr. (Creed II) will direct another movie in the franchise, with a script by Joby Harold (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword). Depending on your sources, that movie is either a sequel to Travis Knight’s Bumblebee or Michael Bay’s films. Additionally, there’s a feature-length animated prequel set on planet Cybertron, directed by Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4). Oh, and James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man films) is penning a script for Transformers: Beast Wars movie. So, that’s at least three projects in the works, besides the one helmed by Ramirez and Soto.

As is frequently the case with such nebulous projects, some of them might never get made. Yet, even so, one thing is clear: we won’t be getting rid of the Transformers anytime soon!
