Last week, Nintendo and Universal Pictures revealed the impressive cast of actors voicing the characters in the upcoming feature-length Super Mario Bros. animated film. According to the GeekTyrant, the cast mainly includes well-known comedic actors. Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) will voice everyone’s favorite plumber, while Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) will lend his voice to Mario’s brother Luigi. Then there’s Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live) as Cranky Kong, Jack Black (The House with a Clock in Its Walls) as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele) as Toad, Kevin Michael Richardson (Masters of the Universe: Revelation) as Kamek, and Seth Rogen (An American Pickle) as Donkey Kong. Finally, critically-acclaimed actress Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit) will voice Princess Peach.
Nintendo’s plucky plumber certainly needs no introduction. As for this film, Universal first announced Super Mario Bros. last year. The movie’s directors are Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath, who previously collaborated on the animated TV show Teen Titans Go! and its feature-length movie version, Teen Titans GO! To the Movies. Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Minions: The Rise of Gru) will write the script.
Super Mario Bros. is set to come out sometime next year.
