Netflix has opted not to renew Marvel’s Luke Cage for a third season.

Netflix’s statement:

“Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season, Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”

According to Deadline the reason behind the cancellation was attributed to ‘creative differences’ where apparently the executives had issues with the scripts they had received from Cheo Hodari Coker and his team for the third season. Deadline claims that Netflix and Marvel were on opposite sides of the dispute and were both ‘intractable’ leading to the decision to cancel the series.

Toruk's Take

I was disappointed with the direction they took with Luke Cage season one. I suspected the showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker might saddle the show with his disgusting SJW Anti-white male, Anti-police agenda and I was right. The show made me sick and they took a character I liked growing up and made me disgusted with him.

If the despicable agenda littered throughout the show wasn’t bad enough, the storytelling and handling of the ‘superhero’ elements themselves was just plain laughable.  I suspect season 2 was more of the same grotesquerie.

While I’m glad this trash is canceled I wonder if this decision really has to do with the received scripts and creative differences as opposed to the mobilization of Disney and their new streaming platform. Hard to say for sure if you’re not inside the walls of Netflix and Marvel.

In the meantime…the axeman takes a moment and leans upon his great bloody axe while he levels his gaze at Jessica Jones.
