Swamp Thing Gets Trimmed
The upcoming Swamp Thing TV series has been cut down from 13 episodes to 10 according to the HollywoodReporter. The change-up for the series, which is set to premier on the DC Universe streaming platform May 31, is said to be the result of ‘creative differences’ between Warner Bros. Television and the DC Universe.
Since none of the organizations are interested in commenting on this perhaps we can speculate on why the change was made. Marvel Netflix fans have long since complained about the 13 episode length of those series arguing that they would be better served narrative-wise with shorter seasons. Perhaps DC has been taking notes and has opted issue a leaner cut of their offerings.
John Cena Wants To Join The Suicide Squad
Will Smith is out but John ‘The Prototype’ Cena may be in. Variety reports that the former (or occasional) WWE star is in talks to join James Gunn’s sequel to Suicide Squad. No word on what role Cena will be playing. The film goes into production this fall with a scheduled release date of Aug. 6, 2021.
I’ve never seen him wrestle but Cena’s presence on screen isn’t atrocious. He seems to actually put some effort into his performances I’m not surprised we’re seeing more of him on the big screen.
Pornstache Is The Master Chief
Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black, The Wire) will be playing the role of Master Chief for showtime’s live-action series based on the popular Xbox video games. Showtime is saying that the show is ‘it’s most ambitious series ever’.
I suppose we’ll see. Pablo is a pretty big guy but I must admit action is not a word I associate with his name. I haven’t seen all of his work so maybe he’s garnered some shoot-em-ups under his belt. However, an even bigger hurdle the show has is the pinnacle question when it comes to video game adaptions: Can they make watching Master Chief as exciting as being Master Chief?
Inquiring minds want to know.
