Our corporate overlords at the Mouse House have graced us with a present of Disney+ Day. On November 12, Disney’s streaming service will deliver new exclusive content to the teeming masses in a super-special cyberspace celebration. This is the day when Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings will officially arrive on Disney+ although the press release isn’t one hundred percent clear if it will be premium access only or part of the standard subscription. For the time being, Marvel’s latest superhero movie is playing exclusively in cinemas and earning some serious money there: around $178 million domestically and an additional $130 million overseas.
Also, the adventure film Jungle Cruise will become available to all subscribers on Disney+ Day. Furthermore, Home Sweet Home Alone will premiere on the streaming service. This remake of the 1990 holiday classic was directed by Dan Mazer, the filmmaker behind such kid-friendly fares as Borat, Brüno, and Dirty Grandpa.
In addition, there will be an all-new series of animated shorts titled Olaf Presents, in which the titular snowman from Frozen retells classic Disney stories. Other new animated short films will include Ciao Alberto (a return to the picturesque world of Pixar’s Luca) and The Simpsons short film because Disney owns them now. Finally, there will be at least two specials. The first one will be dedicated to everyone’s favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett and another one celebrating the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
