BloodyDisgusting reports the fourth season of the anime series Castlevania is officially coming to Netflix on May 14. This will be its final season. However, the article adds people at Netflix may be considering producing another series set in the same fictional universe.
Castlevania was the first original anime series on Netflix and its second adult-oriented animated show after F Is for Family. It premiered in July 2017 with a four-episode season. Created by comic book writer Warren Ellis (Red, Transmetropolitan) and developed by producer Adi Shankar (Dredd, Machine Gun Preacher), the show was favorably received by viewers. So much so, in fact, that Netflix renewed the series last January ahead of the third season premiere.
Castlevania is based on Konami’s original video game franchise spanning almost four decades and over a dozen titles. Its premise follows an outcast monster hunter Trevor Belmont (Richard Armitage – The Hobbit trilogy) battling against grief-maddened Count Dracula (Graham McTavish – Preacher). Throughout the series, Alucard (James Callis – Battlestar Galactica) and Sypha Belnades (Alejandra Reynoso – Winx Club) join Belmont in a fight to prevent the wrath of Dracula from destroying entire Europe.
