What’s a Witcher?

So after a bit of research I’ve uncovered that The Witcher is a PC-based action/role playing game developed by CD Project Red and is published by Atari. The Videogame is based off of a novel series ( 7 to date ) of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski. The first novel The Last Wish was published in 1993. The video game was released in 2007.

So what’s it about?

In a nutshell these “Witchers” are monster hunters who, through intense training and body modification, develop supernatural abilities to aid them in their deadly tasks. Sounds simply enough. As it turns out this series is pretty big in Poland and has spawned a Feature film and television series already. So I guess it’s time for the rest of the world to get a taste.

Netflix To Produce TV Series

The script was written by lauren Schmidt, who wrote for Marvel/Netflix’s Daredevil and The Defender shows. I honestly don’t know if she is any good or not, while I thought season one of Daredevil was pretty good, I thought most of The Defenders was crap.

No news on the release date or casting. The series sounds pretty badass and the fans are still passionate about it after all these years…let’s just hope they don’t screw it up for them. In the meantime…I suppose I should see if I can’t get my hands on this game and see what all the fuss is about.
