AVClub says Edward Norton (Grand Budapest Hotel, The Italian Job) joined the cast of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out sequel. Just a day earlier, there was the announcement Dave Bautista (Blade Runner 2049, Guardians of the Galaxy) joined the production, too. Considering Daniel Craig will be returning as gentleman sleuth Benoit Blanc, this will be a reunion of sorts for him and Bautista – both appeared in the 2015 James Bond film Spectre. At the moment, there is no information about the plot or Bautista and Norton’s roles. Considering the first movie, we know there will be whodunit shenanigans.
In April, Netflix signed a $450 million deal with Johnson, who will direct two sequels to Knives Out. The first film featured a star-studded cast which, among others, featured Toni Collette (Hereditary), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), Chris Evans (Avengers: Endgame), Christopher Plummer (The Insider), and Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water). Filmed for only $40 million, Knives Out earned over $300 million worldwide, making a sequel inevitable. However, Craig will be the only actor returning. As with any good murder mystery film, the sequel will feature a new story, a new location, and a new ensemble cast.
