Black Widow is Coming to Disney Plus

By now, you know the drill: every month or so, movie studios postpone their latest releases, hoping that in the meantime, the pandemic will somehow magically disappear. Usually, this would be yet another article like that. Disney is yet again changing release dates for several movies, including Black Widow and Cruella. This time, however, there’s an interesting wrinkle. According to GeekTyrant, both movies will simultaneously premiere in cinemas and on Disney Plus.

After a full year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mouse House is copying the Warner Bros. distribution model. Black Widow will come out on July 9 instead of May 7. Cruella is premiering on May 28. Both movies will be available on Disney Plus as a Premier Access for a $30 rental fee.

Pixar’s animated feature film Luca is coming out on June 18. Just like Pixar’s previous film Soul, Luca will skip theaters and come out on Disney Plus instead – with no extra charge. Other titles also have new release dates. The science fiction action comedy Free Guy is coming out on August 13 instead of May 21. The King’s Man – a period action-adventure prequel to Kingsmen – is now coming out on December 22 instead of August 20. And finally, Kenneth Branagh’s murder mystery Death on the Nile has been pushed once again – from September 17, 2021, all the way to February 11, 2022.
